Rep. Bob Filner tied himself closely to President Barack Obama and the Democrats during his successful campaign for San Diego mayor, while Councilman Carl DeMaio didn't even endorse his party's standard-bearer, Republican Mitt Romney. But an analysis of the votes cast on Nov. 6 suggests that Romney voters were significantly more likely to vote for DeMaio than Obama voters for Filner. Almost 20 percent of Obama voters took a pass on Filner — about 10 percent skipping the mayor's race, and about 9 percent picking DeMaio.
