RICHMOND, Va. -- With 47 days until the Nov. 6 election, momentum in Virginia appears to be with the Democrats, according to two new polls. While President Barack Obama has maintained a slim but steady edge over GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney for months, two new polls show Timothy M. Kaine surging ahead of George Allen in the state's U.S. Senate race after months of running neck-and-neck. Kaine leads Allen by 7 percentage points in a Quinnipiac University-New York Times-CBS News poll released Wednesday. The poll showed Obama slightly ahead of Romney, by 4 percentage points.
