(Source: Government of Japan) The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will launch a pilot project for the Carbon Offset Products Making Use of Carbon Footprint program, jointly with the Ministry of the Environment (MOE), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). Under the program, the calculated amount of the carbon footprint of products (CFP) is offset by the amount of credits equivalent to the CFP of the products, through which the amount of greenhouse gases emitted during the life cycle of the products is certified as zero.
