Ethel & Albert: Duck Hunting (ABC, 1949) Long before there was The Couple Next Door, there were Ethel & Albert. Creator/writer/co-star Peg Lynch fashioned the original at a Minnesota station, choosing to find the humour in the most mundane of mundanenesses around the house, almost like an urbane Vic & Sade, and often as not with support characters built entirely from the discourse between Ethel, Albert, and their precocious little daughter.
