In a year that contained so many sun-drenched winning moments for Britons, Andy Murray's tears in drizzly south London was one of the most memorable. The 25-year-old Scot had narrowly failed to end a 76-year wait for a British winner of the the men's singles title at Wimbledon, succumbing in four sets to the great Roger Federer. The defeat was made harder for Murray by the fact it was his first time in the final at SW19 and because he won the first set only to be ruthlessly dispatched by Federer's scintillating performance.
