I consider myself an optimist, but there's little room for that in poker whenever lawmakers are involved. For the past 10 years, I've been duped, disappointed and misled in a variety of ways. I was convinced in 2009 that legalized and regulated public poker was going to happen in Texas as a way of generating revenues and giving the ailing horse racing industry a financial shot in the arm.
