(Source: Cranfield University) Press Release 07 Mar 2013 - Predicting Future Fractures A project being led by Cranfield University will develop a new approach to medical diagnosis for bone diseases such as osteoporosis. As many as three million people in the UK are estimated to have osteoporosis - a condition where the bones become thin and weak, and break easily. One in two women and one in five men over 50 will have a fracture mainly due to poor bone health. The combined cost of hospital and social care for patients with hip fractures amounts to more than £2.3 billion per year in the UK*....
