HILLSBORO • The Hillsboro Hawks were down, but they simply refused to be counted out Monday night in the Class 4 District 1 championship game. Hillsboro (10-2) scored two touchdowns in the final 23.2 seconds to post a dramatic 28-20 victory over visiting Cape Girardeau Central. The Hawks, who have won their last eight games, will play Saturday in the quarterfinals at St. Mary's (10-2).
