Kimberley Walsh: from Girls Aloud to showtunes
Feb 1st 2013, 10:45

"How can you go to Barbados and catch a cold?" says Kimberley Walsh, sniffling absently. Her fleeting glumness segues to Saturday-night-TV smile and suddenly she's in promo mode. That's showbiz. Now 31, the Girls Aloud singer and joint runner-up of last year's Strictly Come Dancing hoof-off has been putting her best gloss on things since starring in a George at ASDA advert as a child. When we meet in London's West End to discuss her debut solo album Centre Stage, a big freeze is homing-in outside. Walsh's recent, much paparazzied beach holiday with boyfriend Justin Scott – "Look at that Strictly-toned stomach!" ogled one red-top – must seem a distant memory. The Brucie and Tess Daly-helmed...

Bingo Players: 'We will never release an album'
Feb 1st 2013, 10:50

Bingo Players have revealed that they will never release an album. The chart-topping duo believe that albums have no future in the music industry, the Daily Star reports. The duo, made up of Paul Baumer and Maarten Hoogstraten, are currently at the top of the UK charts with their Far East Movement collaboration 'Get Up (Rattle)'. However, the group have said that they would rather focus on releasing singles than a full studio album. Baumer said: "In the past five years, people have stopped being interested in albums. "We were going to concentrate on just putting out really good singles. I think kids just don't have the attention span to listen to whole albums anymore, so they will disappear...

Dusted Reviews Artist: Hair Police Album: Mercurial Rights Label: Type Review date: Feb. 1, 2013
Feb 1st 2013, 11:12

They share a lot of the same grim atmospheres, but the former have dissolved most links to any form of "standard" music, notably jazz and rock, preferring to center their sound around drifts of caustic electronic drone and Mike Connelly's ruptured vocals.
