أكد الدكتور صائب عرقات كبير المفاوضين الفلسطينيين عضو اللجنة التنفيذية لمنظمة التحرير بأن الرئيس الفلسطيني محمود عباس لم يهدد بحل السلطة الفلسطينية.
 
وأضاف عريقات في تصريحات ، لصحيفة "القدس العربي" الصادرة اليوم السبت، 'الرئيس محمود عباس لم يهدد بحل السلطة ولم يتحدث عن تسليم مفاتيح السلطة لإسرائيل مضيفا 'الرئيس قال بالحرف الواحد نحن نريد أن نخلق فرصة لعملية سياسية ذات مغزى بعد قرار الأمم المتحدة الأخير الذي أصبحت فيه فلسطين دولة غير عضو في المنظمة الدولية وعليه فنحن نريد إطلاق عملية سياسية تقوم على أساس التزامات الجانبين من جانبنا نلتزم بما علينا في كل المجالات ومن جانب إسرائيل عليها التزامان الالتزام الأول وقف الاستيطان والالتزام الثاني إطلاق سراح المعتقلين وخاصة الذين اعتقلوا قبل أوسلو وهذه ليست شروط هذه التزامات، ونحن معنيون بالتعاون مع العرب والاتحاد الأوربي ومع أمريكا والصين واليابان وكل دول أسيا وإفريقيا الهند والبرازيل واللجنة الرباعية الدولية أن نخلق فرصة نحدد سقفا زمنيا فيها على أساس عملية سياسية حقيقية'. ...
