The new Russian head coach, Evgeny Grebenkin, announced that Mustafina will not compete at the 2012 Stuttgart World Cup this December. There has been no word as to why she has been withdrawn. Mustafina suffered a nearly career ending ACL injury at the 2011 European Gymnastics Championships. She was able to compete again after surgery and months of rehabilitation.
